Administrative / biographical background:

A day and Sunday School was built in Water Street by the Wesleyan Methodists in 1847. The building was sold to Cheshire County Council in 1913 and continued as a Council School until 1948. A new Sunday School building was erected in Wellington Road in 1914. The Sunday School and Chapel trusts were united in 1941. See also Bollington (Prestbury), Wellington Road Chapel, ref. EMS 16.
